Just Hatched - Day 1

A long awaited package arrived this morning...

The box had air holes and was making lots of noise...

30 little peeps were huddled inside this space no bigger than a shoe box.  The girls couldn't wait to get their hands on them, Maddie was almost crying over their cuteness

We had a box all ready for them to move in.  Warm & cozy, fresh water, feed and soft pine shavings. It's like a tropical getaway compared to what's outside right now!

We gently counted and placed them all inside, they went strait to the water, then found the buffet.

The chicks were actually hatched Wednesday, then sent through the mail and delivered to our local post office where we picked them up early this morning.  So technically they are 2 days old.  I'm going to try my best to post pictures of them everyday through at least this week so we can see how much they've developed.

The breeds we ordered are Buff Orphingtons, Black Stars, Black Australorps, Plymouth Barred Rock, and Silver Laced Wyandottes.  Of which 27 are pullets (females) and 3 are roosters (males.)
